Hannah Kelly has been missing for nine months. Ava Delaney has been dead for five days.
One girl to find. One girl to avenge. And DS Aector McAvoy won't let either of them go until justice can be done.
But some people have their own ideas of what justice means...
This was the 5th book in a series I did not read the other books in the series and there are some situations where I noticed I missed information from the other books.
I did enjoy this story though. A young woman gets murdered. I guess this is the nightmare of any police officer especially when they cannot find the murderer soon. Aector McAvoy is bothered by this a lot. He is an interesting personality. Broody but good. I did not really get a good feeling for him but that did not disturb me. It is clear he is some safe haven in the lives of many people around him.
He was clearly annoyed by the solo actions his boss Trish Pharaoh is pulling. There seems to be a reason for her actions but he cannot find out what. While she is investigating the situation around Reuben Hollow. She put him in jail for murder but he was released due to an error in the process. She seems to take it hard and is bonding with Hollow. Question is if she is trying to get him back in jail or if she is falling for the charming man. It was an interesting situation.
I did find out the clue of the puzzle early on in the book but it did not ruin the story for me. I might have to pick up the earlier books to get a better grip on McAvoy.
