Murder at the 42nd Street Library opens with a murder in a second floor office of the iconic, beaux-arts flagship of the New York Public Library. Ray Ambler, the curator of the library's crime fiction collection, joins forces with NYPD homicide detective Mike Cosgrove in hopes of bringing a murderer to justice.
In his search for the reasons behind the murder, Ambler uncovers hidden--and profoundly disturbing--relationships between visitors to the library. These include a celebrated mystery writer who has donated his papers to the library's crime fiction collection, that writer's missing daughter, a New York society woman with a hidden past, and one of Ambler's colleagues at the world-famous library. Those shocking revelations lead inexorably to the tragic and violent events that follow.

I was hoping for a great murder mystery puzzle and that is exactly what I got. I loved the idea of the librarian trying to solve murders. I can totally see me doing that when it is not hitting to close to home.
All the characters involved in the story did get me confused a bit. Especially Donnely and Dolloway who were two very different people. The puzzling along worked very well and it was great that there were multiple possibilities till the end.
Ray and Adele were are nice together and I liked Cosgrove and McNalty too. I would have loved to have more information for the last one. This is for most characters. The story does not really set personalities for the characters. The tougher subjects discussed in the book are not really worked out either. The story never really touched me but I was not disturbed because I wanted a light entertaining read.

I've never heard of this book, but it sounds like something I would like. Bummer that it's a little confusing. Oh well, I can probably deal! Thanks for the rec.

I actually do like the sounds of this one, despite the minor 'issues'. I'm in need of a light read!
