Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place.
Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries.

I love Rothfuss's Kingkiller books and was curious what this little side step into Auri's life would be like. The warning that it would be something different made me even more curious.
In the books Auri is just a character that Kvothe runs into. It is clear they have a connection but as Kvothe the reader often wonders what happens to Auri when he is not there. This book answers that. It describes Auri's life in the Underthing. How Auri sees things in her life. Auri her curious behaviour, her need for order, her strict rules of moving around. As she is discovering new parts in the Underthing and is searching for 'things' her character is becoming a beautiful young woman.
It is beautifully written and left me speechless for a while after reading. Auri is so vulnerable. I wanted to protect her. To help her. I do hope we get more interaction with her.
