As a boy, William Bellman commits one small, cruel act: killing a bird with his slingshot. Little does he know the unforeseen and terrible consequences of the deed, which is soon forgotten amidst the riot of boyhood games. By the time he is grown, with a wife and children of his own, William seems to be a man blessed by fortune—until tragedy strikes and the stranger in black comes. Then he starts to wonder if all his happiness is about to be eclipsed. Desperate to save the one precious thing he has left, William enters into a rather strange bargain, with an even stranger partner, to found a decidedly macabre business.
This probably not qualifies as a wishlist wednesday because it is not out in the open available yet but it is on Netgalley and I want it and I need it. I loved The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and her writing style and I have been waiting for a new book by her since like forever. When I saw it up and read the synopsis I was thrilled already. I am so curious about this book!

Write reactiesI'm participating in the weekly for the first time. Just stopped by to see your entry. The synopsis of The Thirteenth Tale reminds me of "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss (which I loved) in that the storytelling seems to be rich and engaging.
ReplyYou're doing awesome on your Goodreads reading challenge. I'm behind on mine.
The Name of the Wind has more body to it than The Thirteenth Tale. Thirteenth Tale is more realistic. But the style atmosphere is magical in both :D
ReplyOh man, this sounds pretty interesting! *o* I hope you get it soon, also congrats on reading so many books this year! :D Good luck with meeting your goal
