I have been slow with my reading lately not being able to concentrate much on books so I hope this will help me a bit in catching up on my reading and maybe even get me back on the reading track.
Part of the fun of a read-a-thon is picking books. I have a whole pile of books I need to read but have learned from previous experience it is better to pick a few smaller ones and have something big just in case.
The books I have chosen for now are
The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes
For One More Day by Mitch Albom
The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt by Caroline Preston
The Book of You by Claire Kendal
And S. by Doug Dorst & J.J. Abrams which I am still reading.
Next fun thing are snacks. If you stay up long you need a lot of snacks and goodies to keep you company. I am more of a salted snack type so I got some cheese and bread. Some popcorn and candies.
I will keep updates for the read-a-thon in this post but please note that I will not have my computer on all the time. To keep track or help me stay awake you can join me over on Twitter where I will probably spend way to much time having fun on the hashtags #Readathon, #Dewey, #MiniChallenge, #RahRahReadathon
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
The Netherlands. Spots included will be my bed, the couch and outside as the sun is shining!!
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I guess S. which I am reading already and hope to finish. I still have a lot of very promising books on my stack and hope to get to most of them.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Owww snacks... the popcorn will not survive hour 5 I guess!!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I took Monday off to recover from the read-a-thon. I will start one hour early so I can see The Gentz perform in the city centre tonight for Kingsday.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is the fourth time I am joining and I just love to go out on twitter or visit blogs of oher participants and see what they are reading. I spend way to much time doing that but it is so much fun. I hope to finish my book and read at least one other!
So the reading:
I am currently reading S. and am on page 125.
Total pages read: 0
Books finished: 0
Update after 6.5 hour
I am still reading S. and am on page 300.
Total pages read: 175
Books finished: 0
I had dinner and snacked on strawberries, cookies and chocolate. I drank tea and Irish Coffee and am pretty happy with my progress.

ReplyWe'll start together tomorrow after lunch :)
I haven't read any of your books, but the one by Albom is on my list.
Enjoy!
Happy reading chuck! I'm a 1pm start so I think I'll be kicking off with toasted teacakes, a big mug of tea and The Library of Unrequited Love by Sophie Divry. It's really short so it'll give me an early boost! After that I've got a whole stack of potential reads to choose from, PLUS all the food I could ever need, including popcorn, ham and egg sandwiches, jellybeans and vanilla coke. YES TO ALL THE READING AND ALL THE SNACKING! :D

ReplyI loved "S". It was a bit of a long read for me, but I still loved it. Enjoy the Readathon!
ReplyI love that you're taking Monday off to recover! My bosses know that I do readathon twice a year and that I'm not available to work or cover shifts during these weekends. Glad I'm not the only one that plans her life and job around Readathon! :)
