Top Ten Tuesdays: Top Ten Favorite Romances

top ten tuesday button
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Every Tuesday Sheila asks you to post your top ten on a bookish subject.

This weeks topic is Favorite romances. I love to get lost in a book where a good romance is developing. That you feel like making a reservation in a restaurant so the characters in your book can go out for dinner and finally meet or solve their fight or just have a very nice romantic evening. I made it to 8 this week which is one more than my average of the last weeks. After 8 I could not come up with a couple that is still in my brain so I took that as a message that I have 8 favorite romances and no more.

Matthew Clairmont and Diana Bishop (All Souls trilogy)
I have very strong feelings about this couple. I need them to be together and to be happy together. When they get hurt I actually react. My bf ran into the room at several points while I was screaming NO at my book. These two need to be together ()
Vleugels en de wereld aan mijn voeten Leni Saris cover
Shera Vernon and Roeland Orth (Dancing on Ice trilogy)
This is a series from a dutch author which was first published in the middle ages (1969) and my mum had them all. I read these when I was 11 or 12 for the first time and it was magic, Ice skating and this perfect couple. I read the books several times and still love them.
Tom en Isabel Sherbourne (The Light Between Oceans)
The love between these two was written so beautiful you had to believe in it. The decisions they made to make each other happy where at the same disturbing but tokens of true and deep love.
Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
The romance between these two is just to cute to be true. The real teenage "I do not know what is happening to me but I think you are weird all of a sudden" experience. I loved reading this developing romance.
Matilda and her books (Matilda)
Because romances do not always have to be between human beings and it are books...
Aomame and Tengo (IQ84)
Two people knowing they are in love but not capable of being together. A lot of pages where the struggle is visible and all you can do is yell at your book when they miss each other again.

Thura and Christian (De toekomst trilogy)
Christian en Thura
The world has been ruined by war and industry and slowly some small groups of people start setting up their lives again. Thule (former Greenland) the climate has become very good and there is a big society ruled by woman. Christian is the son of the current leader of Thule but cannot follow in her footsteps as he is a man. He falls in love with a girl, Thura who works as a captain on a ship. When other societies come to visit them with warships Thura shows her intelligence and together they try to save Thule from the fall.

Thomas Lynley and Helen Clyde (Inspector Lynley series)
From early on in the books they seem to be right for each other but it takes them a long time to get there. It is a very easy couple to cheer for. I often felt like slapping Inspector Lynley if he did something stupid to her.

I absolutely agree about Matthew and Diana! And I agree, a romance with books should certainly count. Nice list!
