There Goes January!

Can someone please tell me where January went? I cannot believe it is the last day of the month already. As mentioned in my resolutions post I am going to give you a recap of my month.

Reading
Books read: 7
Pages read: 2936
I am on track for my Goodreads Challenge

Buying
Funny Girl by Nick Hornby €21.99
Station Eleven Emily St John Mandel €12.95
Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris €8.95
Zeg me wie ik ben by Julia Navarro €7,50
Orfeo by Richard Powers €12,95
Turned in a few books for second hand sale €-32,00
Total €32.34

Actually this is not that bad. I do not really need new books only Funny Girl made sense as it is for my February book club. The money I got for turning in books I had to spend on books in that store. But it is sale and all book stores have a lot of interesting discounts and I managed to walk out of most of them without buying books.

Added to the never ending TBR
Funny Girl by Nick Hornby
When the Doves Disappeared by Sofi Oksanen
The Long and Faraway Gone by Lou Berney
Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes
Church of Marvels by Leslie Parry
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Night Life by David Taylor
A Robot in the Garden by Deborah Install
Eye on the Struggle by James McGrath Morris
Mistress Firebrand by Donna Thorland
Russian Winter by Daphne Kalotay
Flappers: Six Woman of a Dangerous Generation by Judith Mackrell
Where They Found Her by Kimberly McCreight

I might have to cut back on adding to my TBR, it is getting huge. A few of these books will be returning in the upcoming months as they are for review but most are just on the list unfortunately. I have been hearing so many good things about The Girl on the Train and actually would love to read it right now but than I realize I added so many books with that exact same thought and walk into the general not enough time problem. How do you manage your TBR?

On a personal note
This month has been about a lot of musical theatre actually. This did interfere with my reading as it took me more than two weeks to finish Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell which is a nice 846 pages big so allowed to swallow up a few days but still I usually read faster. I did manage to get a picture with Tim Driesen (currently playing Frankie Valli in the Jersey Boys UK tour) in a tuxedo and I met Aaron Tveit who is currently playing John Wilkes Booth in Assassins. These are my two favourite musical stars so you can imagine my month was pretty awesome.

Looking forward
I have to catch up on my reading. Not because of challenges but I am just on the edge of being behind with review copies. I do not have that much planned this month. The only big thing is a three day trip to the UK to see Jersey Boys (yes again) so I should be able to get some reading done. I am planning to sneak in Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel though. It is on my night stand and I have heard many great things about it.
