Wishlist Wednesday: The Storyteller, Antonia Michaelis

Wishlist Wednesday is a weeklies hosted by Pen to Paper. As I have enough wishes when it comes to books I decided to join this weekly and tell you about them. I am obviously curious about the books on your wishlist too so feel free to leave a message.

The storyteller Antonia Michaelis cover
Anna and Abel couldn’t be more different. They are both seventeen and in their last year of school, but while Anna lives in a nice old town house and comes from a well-to-do family, Abel, the school drug dealer, lives in a big, prisonlike tower block at the edge of town. Anna is afraid of him until she realizes that he is caring for his six-year-old sister on his own. Fascinated, Anna follows the two and listens as Abel tells little Micha the story of a tiny queen assailed by dark forces. It’s a beautiful fairy tale that Anna comes to see has a basis in reality. Abel is in real danger of losing Micha to their abusive father and to his own inability to make ends meet. Anna gradually falls in love with Abel, but when his “enemies” begin to turn up dead, she fears she has fallen for a murderer. Has she?
I really loved the font of the title and the title itself. That pulled me to reading the synopsis. After reading that I was not sure if I would really like the book so I decided to read some of the reviews. One that caught my attention was the review of Catie who wrote "I felt like I’d just walked into what I thought was a kid’s petting zoo, only to discover that it was actually a baby animal slaughterhouse." This made me so curious I added this book to my shelves. Now I cannot wait to read this book.

I've heard so many great things about this book- it's been on a few blogs' top 10 of 2012. I'm ashamed to say I have a copy and STILL haven't found time to read it yet!
Hope you get to read it soon!

Oooh. Sounds suspenseful! It would be interesting to see what direction the author took in this book regarding the 'story' aspect. Sounds gritty and moving.

Hope you can get a hold of it soon!
