The Mad Scientist's Daugther, Cassandra Rose Clarke
Finn looks and acts human, though he has no desire to be. He was programmed to assist his owners, and performs his duties to perfection. A billion-dollar construct, his primary task is now to tutor Cat. As she grows into a beautiful young woman, Finn is her guardian, her constant companion...and more. But when the government grants rights to the ever-increasing robot population, however, Finn struggles to find his place in the world, and in Cat's heart.

Cassandra Rose Clarke is living in Houston, Texas. She graduated in 2006 from The University of St. Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in English, and in 2008 she completed her master’s degree in creative writing at The University of Texas at Austin.
During the summer of 2010, she attended the Clarion West Writers Workshop in Seattle. She was also a recipient of the 2010 Susan C. Petrey Clarion Scholarship Fund

I heard so many great things about this book already and even though it does not fit in my normal reading I was curious. I am glad I read this book because it was so cute and I really enjoyed it. Written from Catherine's point of view she grows up with Finn in her house and for her having robots around is a matter of fact in her life. Around her people still have problems but Finn is so human like that Cat has a problem understanding why people have such a problem with the androids. Still she is influenced by this in the decisions that she makes by the opinion of other people. There were moments I had hoped she would be stronger but it is easy to understand her motives.
Finn is a likable character. As reader you obviously notice a lot more than Cat and there are moments you feel like yelling at both of them to tell them what should happen. Still I feel that he could have done more despite his programming. I really enjoyed the story and the developments in the book.

Oh. I was talking to my friend about this book the other day. Seems interesting but the length is putting me off. It's hard for me to give my full attention to a long book these days.

But I really want to read it. I'm curious, just like you.

Yay! I'm glad you read this one. I think Netgalley sometimes has a way of getting us to read books that we wouldn't otherwise pick up.
