Top Ten Tuesday: Book I feel you should read

top ten tuesday button
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Every week the girls from the Broke and Bookish come up with a subject and you and I have to make a top ten.
This weeks topic is Top Ten  Books I Recommend The Most. When I saw this topic I was already looking forward to the lists of other people. I must admit that it really depends on the person what I recommend. Therefore I compiled a list of my favorite reads and some of the books that are always at the top of my mind when people ask me for titles.

Rita Sepetys, Between Shades of Gray
This book is beautiful. It is raw and emotional and it took me 5 days after finishing before I was able to consider picking up a next book.

Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind
I am not much of a fantasy reader. I do not find it easy to understand made up worlds. I bought this book due to its size and the nice price considering I would get over it for that money and I never been more hooked on a fantasy novel. This book is as easy to read as Harry Potter but more adult. It gave me the feeling I would be able to handle Lord of the Rings (not that it ever happened but the feeling is great)

Charles Lewinsky, Terugkeer Ongewenst
Unfortunately this book has not been translated in English yet but I hope it will get soon. The author has a magic touch when it comes to language. He can really play with words and it is a pleasure to read his books. The subject in this book is part truth part fictional but you would have to do the research to find out what is what.

Elizabeth Kostova, The Historian
I love books on history combined with puzzles. The Historian is a book that pulls you deep into the mystery and it really has this great atmosphere which makes you forget about your surroundings.

Vanessa Diffenbaugh, The Language of Flowers
I am aware this book has had varied reviews. This is one of those you like or not. If you are able to connect with the protagonist the book is very emotional and beautiful. If not than it is not a very pleasant read I guess.

Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Shadow of the Wind
I love this book and am able to read it over and over again. I want to live in this book. Great atmosphere and great story.

Other books that are not on my favorite list but I do recommend a lot are
Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale
This book is not a life changing story but it is such a great read. The atmosphere is great, there are a lot of books and the end is very surprising.

J.K. Rowling, all the Harry Potters
Though I find the quality between the stories changes and some get 5 stars and some 4 I love spending time with this books. They are great reads with a wonderful world of magic.

Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca
A classic and one of the few I can actually appreciate. Though some parts are really getting outdated the atmosphere in this book is great. The mystery is great too. A great puzzle too.

Elizabeth George, the Thomas Lynley books
The first mystery series I got hooked on. I was 12 when I checked out my first Lynley from the library and since I have never been without a Lynley book in my house. I eventually managed to get my hands on copies from all books in the series and as soon as there is a new one I will go out and buy it. I do not know many people who read the books though they are very popular so I always try to introduce them to other people so I can talk about them. *hint*

Stieg Larrson, The Millenium books
I was late with these. They where so popular that they scared me. I was not sure about Swedish crime stories but during a challenge last year I picked them up and they are great reads. I was ashamed of myself for running away from them.

I chose a Ruta Sepetys book, too, but not BETWEEN SHADES OF GRAY. For some reason, I just didn't like that one as much as other people did. I loved her new one -- OUT OF THE EASY -- though. It's a great read!

I agree with you on the Lynley series. I have read all of them. Still need to get to The Thirteenth Tale and finish the last Harry Potter. This is an interesting and varied list.

Honestly I think we love so many of the same books! The Millenium series, Rebecca, Shadow of the Wind, The Thirteenth Tale are amongst my favorites. OH and I've read the Historian - I didn't like it as much...
